INTEGRATIONS · N8N
SMS to n8n.
Start an n8n workflow each time a text message comes in. The app sends each SMS to an n8n Webhook node as JSON, with the sender, the text and the one-time code in separate fields.
n8nTarget type in the app: Webhook
How to set it up
- In n8n, add a Webhook node. Set the HTTP method to
POST. - Copy the Production URL of the node. Activate the workflow.
- In SMS Webhook, open Targets and tap Add target. Select Webhook and paste the URL.
- Tap Send test message. The test message shows in the n8n executions list.
- Open Rules and select the messages to send, for example: sender contains
HDFC.
What n8n gets
In n8n, the fields are in $json.body, for example {{ $json.body.otp }}.
{
"from": "AX-HDFCBK",
"contactName": "",
"body": "Your OTP for login is 834512. Do not share it.",
"otp": "834512",
"sim": "1",
"source": "sms",
"receivedAt": "2026-10-21T09:41:21.087Z",
"rule": "Bank OTPs"
}
Send only the messages that you need
Rules select the messages. Example: when the sender contains HDFC and the text has an OTP, send it to n8n. A drop rule can stop promotions first. See the webhook guide for the template variables.
Notes
- To make sure that a request came from your phone, turn on Sign requests. Then compare the
X-SMS-Webhook-Signatureheader with an HMAC-SHA256 of the body in a Crypto node. See signature. - If your n8n server is on your home network, the phone must be able to reach it. Use a public URL or a VPN such as Tailscale.
